My Story

I was 6 when I found out I had Crohn's, but now I'm 10 years old and up and running like nothing ever happened. Well, okay, lots of things happened. When I first went to the hospital, everyone knew something was wrong with me because I would not eat. I had weighed 40 pounds but somehow managed to lose 20 pounds. When my parents told the docs that I was sick, they just said I was either nervous about first grade or I had the flu...both not right!

When they finally believed my mom and dad and did a colonoscopy, guess what they found? My insides were eaten away and I had to have emergency surgery that very minute! They took out almost 10 inches of my small intestine and I had to be in and out of the hospital, over and over again, for about a year.

I've tried a bunch of different medicines, and had 3 surgeries and many hospital visits. But just like many of us know, we lived through it and we fought it. I am not in remission but I am living -- and that's always good. Well, that's most of my story and I hope when I am older there will be a cure for this, and we will all live a normal and beautiful life.
